The Impact of a Strong Industry Partnership Partnering Community College with Oil and Gas Industry
Oil and gas companies are always on the lookout for highly skilled talent when looking to fill open positions. Where do they look for a strong talent pool? How do they generate positive leads to fill those positions? What are the skills they look for? These are some questions that recruiters, human resources, and talent acquisition departments ask every time they must either replace a person or hire for a new position.
Midland College (MC) Energy Technology and Diesel Technology Programs have developed strong partnerships with local oil and gas companies to help answer some of these questions and fill the employment gap here in the Permian Basin. There is representation from upstream, midstream, and downstream companies. The partnerships are made up of large corporations such as Chevron, Oxy, Ovintiv and SM Energy as well as independents such as Endeavor and CrownQuest, just to mention a few. These companies are a very integral part of the educational process.

How Can the Oil and Gas Industry Improve Its Project Management
The oil and gas industry has drastically changed in the past decade. The vast majority of Earth’s oil and gas deposits have been already uncovered years ago while modern-day technologies allowed us to mine them faster than ever.
The resources are rapidly becoming scarcer while finding a decent team of engineers is challenging for a number of reasons. Even so, there are ways to improve the governing aspect of any project if one knows what to look for. Today we’ll talk about how can the oil and gas industry companies and their employees improve their project management skills and execution, so let’s dive in.
Redefined contracts and forms
The first area where oil and gas industry managers are lacking is contractual in nature. According to dr. William Wallace, most contractor companies actually know very little about contract laws, which combined with the interest of protecting their prospects oftentimes leads to disaster.
The first way to improve the efficiency of applie…

Using your Natural Gas in the Oilfield to create Power To the Grid
Using Natural Gas Generators to Power a Grid
When it comes to backup generators, both diesel and natural gas generators are well-known for being used in a variety of applications to provide backup power to businesses and facilities in the event of power outage or even serve as the primary source of power for operations and applications that take place off the main power grid, but what about using natural gas generators to serve as a remote or temporary power grid?
Why Natural Gas Generators?
Natural gas generators make a great solution for grid applications, because out of all the current alternative power solutions available (alternative meaning not part of the main power grid), these generators are one of the most reliable sources of constant power. Depending on build and configuration, natural gas generators can run in continuous or prime applications to act as a primary power supply and kW output can be added to meet power requirements by running generators in parallel. …

The Importance of Health Insurance for Oil Patch Workers
There are many reasons that a company should offer health insurance to their employees that work in the oil patch industry. Besides the obvious dangers from flammable gases, fire, explosion and equipment malfunction, workers need to know that if they face an illness or family crisis it is not going to cause them to go deep into debt or risk losing their home or other assets.
The petroleum industry operates on a global level and whether a company is in operation in Oklahoma, Kansas or overseas, workers need to be protected from injury and illness. While companies will often perform random drug testing in the oilfield to help ensure safety on the job, it’s also a good policy to offer health benefits that will ensure workers have access to care when needed whether due to illness or injury at work or when off the clock. This is not only an important benefit for workers, but it’s also something that companies need to offer to help benefit the company overall.
Why Should Oil Pat…

How To Pick The Right Transportation Company To Haul Your Oilfield Equipment
There are many professional transportation companies around the globe. Each company claims to be the best in the industry, which can make choosing one seem a lot more complicated than it should be. Not all transportation companies are created equally, though. Some of these companies only specialize in specific types of transport services. So, how do you know if you are choosing the right company to help with your company’s oilfield equipment shipping?
What Should You Look For In A Transport Company?
Different types of equipment require different types of transport. You wouldn’t call a residential moving company to transport a fleet of forklifts, or an auto transporter to pack up your house for you. The only time these scenarios would be feasible is if the transport company offered multiple transport and moving solutions. Otherwise, you are wasting your time and the company’s time obtaining a quote. The hardest part of your oilfield equipment transport experience should be r…
